Week 02 3D

In today's class we watched the video ‘Theo Jansen at TED, 2007.’ It’s about a wacky inventor who creates massive realistic mechanical animals that move along the beach powered by the wind.

It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before, its design so complex and out of the ordinary which makes it so intriguing. These large robotic-like creatures are original because of the materials used that aren’t stereotypically associated with robots. The invention is also really complex with added structures to keep the sculpture from hazard such as blowing into the ocean and ‘drowning.’ After watching this video it made me wonder what goes through his head and opened my eyes to the possibilities and the limits you can reach as a designer.

Today we were given the task to design a bag for CDU students. I decided I wanted to keep it simple creating an eco friendly bag with an adjustable strap. I wanted to have a range of different designs to make it more personal. I believe they will be popular because they are common yet personalized in there designs.

I desided I wanted to make the bag more convenient so I added an adjustable strap so it can be worn over the shoulder and at different lengths according to height and preference. 

Here is a rough sketch created in illustrator.

Firstly I had a look into the designs I would like to put on the bag. I researched and here are a few designs I liked of the web. I wanted to choose a range for different personalities and genders.

After researching I created some rough designs of my own in Illustrator. Here is what I came up with.

These designs are rough but are young and youthful. People show there personalities through how they dress and I believe this will stand out to the students because they can pick and choose and maybe even they can come up with there own designs! Just an idea :)
