Week 07 2D Design

Practical - Design Communication

1.  DESIGN a headline & tagline draft for the student exhibition.

Above is a simple Helvetica Ultra light font that is personalized by the changing of the text colour to red to reflect 'hot' lands. The letter 'o' is also made whole to show the blazing sun.

In the above image I experimented with the aboriginal flag. But changed the colour of the ocean so that it wasn't so aboriginal focused.

This image I wanted to continue the theme of the sun. Not too sure on how it turned out and there are a few things I could change such as the font of the 'art from the hot lands' text and maybe the number 1.

2.  Make a list of 2 key concepts you are trying to communicate
- Art
- NT
3.  Make a list of 2 key feelings your trying to communicate
- Creativity
- Fun
4.  REFINE your headline to communicate these 4 things

Above is quirky design that I believe captures the eye because of its abstract qualities, it is also simple to read and portrays art well through the picture frame.

5.  Prepare to present your communication skills to the class.
6.  Upload all this content to your blog

Group Exercise - Concept Investigation

Using a scale of 1 – 10,
each group assigns a quantitative rating for all the designs,
based on the three criteria below

1.  Clear rendition of 2 key concepts
2.  Clear rendition of 2 key feelings

Each student post the group results in your blog

Video Commentary

The following video is an advertisment for someones personal business on band merchandise. It shows the process and some of the stuff they have made. I would like to look into screen printing and learn how to do it. This video was well made and effectively shows the process in a quick advertisement. I would like to make something of that same quality.
